One of Hammonton’s historic homes is for sale at 45 N. Packard Street offering unique character with some modern upgrades.
According to Listing Agent Michelle Perone of Weichert Realtors, the home was once a satellite post office on Bellevue Avenue, which was moved to its current location on Packard Street in 1946.
It was owned by the Macrie family, who boasted that the home was the first home in the town to have wall-to-wall carpet, according to Perone.
The fabulous architecture both inside and out offers more of this home’s unique historical story.
This four-bedroom and two-full-bathroom home is listed for $224,900.
A grand front entrance is established by the columned blue slate-covered front porch that offers an impressive yet inviting first impression. Once inside the home, the large living room boasts a real wood-burning fireplace with a nicely crafted mantel, high ceilings, and the original trim and woodwork that provides a cozy and inviting feel.
The eat-in kitchen has been recently remodeled, bringing in modern upgrades to the historic character of the home, including a center island with dual sinks, all new stainless steel appliances, built in pantry and ample counter and cabinet space.
Adjacent to the kitchen is an office with separate entrance, hardwood floors and large windows with beautiful wood trim accents. This room is perfectly suited for an at-home office that allows for privacy, yet is in close proximity to the kitchen, which is designed as the heart or center of the home.
A first floor bedroom offers its own full-bathroom, large closet and nice layout.
A wood-burning fireplace highlights the partially finished basement with a wet bar ideal for entertaining large groups or an intimate dinner party.
In addition, there are two access points to the basement through an outside door leading to the back yard and also through the kitchen.
The basement further boasts large areas for storage and a separate laundry room.
Upstairs are three more bedrooms and one full bathroom that has recently been updated. The master bedroom features built-in his and her closets.
The original hardwood floors throughout the home can be easily finished to a bright luster highlighting one of the historical characteristics of the home.
Other amenities include nine-foot ceilings, six panel doors, and newer windows in some rooms, new energy-efficient hot water heater and ninety percent newer electric with 20- amp service.
The large back lot features mature trees.
